Handgun
Level III
Handgun Level III is
an advanced “tactical” course that builds on skills
learned in the Handgun Level II course. Course
curriculum includes training on shooting while on the
move, advanced barricade training, close proximity
shooting (not CQB, but training for shooting incidents
that occur at ranges of less than 6 feet), unorthodox
shooting positions, communication skills, team skills (2
officer teams), malfunction clearing skills, and
low-light techniques. Students will be required to
successfully complete a combat course. The combat course
will require the student utilize skills learned in the
course, which include decision making skills,
communication skills, shooting while on the move,
reloading skills, and malfunction clearing skills.
Students will also participate in a night-shoot. Handgun
