Shotgun Level I

    This is an entry-level course, which covers basic shotgun handling and shooting fundamentals. Students will be instructed in firearms safety, basic shooting fundamentals (stance, weapon to shoulder placement, trigger control, sight alignment, and sight picture), loading and unloading skills (administrative and combat techniques), basic marksmanship skills, shotgun “carry” positions (and the use of the sling), communication skills, and weapon maintenance. Students will receive training on proper ammunition selection (for task on hand). Students will also pattern their shotguns with 00 buck and slug rounds (departmental ammunition). This is a (1) one day course (minimum of 8 hours).
